If you type “rooftop bars in Medellin” into Google, you’re going to get a wall of options and zero context on which ones are actually worth your night.
After visiting Medellin for 4 days this year, the various rooftop restaurants, bars and pools were my #1 highlight.
I even extended my trip to spend an extra day relaxing at the rooftop pool and bar at Los Patios and snag a brunch reservation at Palman Piton’s dreamy garden rooftop.
And there were still so many I had saved on Tiktok or Insta that I have on my list to go back for.
I’ve split my list into two parts. The first half is rooftop restaurants in Medellín, for when you want an actual dining experience with a view.
The second half is rooftop bars in Medellín, for when you want music, a crowd, and maybe a pool.
These are, hands down, some of the best Medellín rooftop bars you’ll find.
El Poblado has the highest concentration of rooftop bars and restaurants in the city, with Laureles coming in second for a quieter, more local feel.
Most of these rooftops require a reservation, especially on weekends. Sunset is the best time to arrive almost everywhere on this list, because you get the daylight views and then watch the city light up after dark.
Best Rooftop Restaurants in Medellín
1. Piso 10 (Laureles)
⭐ Star highlight: One of my definite top three picks and it’s because of the bathroom??? You have to see it for yourself to see what I mean.
When planning your trip to Medellin, this rooftop has to hit your list no matter what.
Piso 10 is on the 10th floor of Hotel Sonata 44 in Laureles. It provides a really high-up view of the city and its rolling mountains. The atmosphere is modern and elegant.
It’s clear that this is a celebration spot. I saw them setting up for a big party and there were several other birthday dinners happening. But there were also tables of couples enjoying a meal, and then of course myself, dining as a solo tourist.
Somehow the main reason to visit is the bathroom. Its open air with a stone arched window overlooking a view and had red ambient lighting. I saw so many people going in and out just to take pictures.
Oh and the food is really good too! I just got birria tacos and some dessert but it was really tasty.
Pros:
- Truly one of the prettiest rooftop views in the city
- Laureles location means a calmer, more local vibe than El Poblado
- Elegant but not overly formal
- It’s a smaller restaurant which makes it feel more intimate and not too crowded, which I liked as a solo diner
Cons:
- Laureles is a bit of a trek from El Poblado, but also Ubers are really cheap and only take about 15 minutes
- Popular enough that you’ll want a reservation on weekends

2. Simah (Las Palmas)
⭐ Star highlight: My other top three pick, and the best rooftop restaurant in Medellín for a special occasion dinner.
Arguably one of the top things to do in Medellin, Simah is a contemporary Latin restaurant with refined local cuisine and panoramic views of the valley from high up on Las Palmas. The viewpoint is about 50 minutes drive outside of Medellin, so you get some insane birds-eye views of the entire valley below you. Not just a close up portion of it.
Simah is fine dining. The food is on the pricer side the staff is attentive, and the service is truly excellent. People dress up for this one, so plan on a nicer outfit.
You definitely need a reservation to get in.

- Refined Latin cuisine that matches the setting
- Attentive, high-quality service
Cons:
- Pricier than most other rooftop restaurants in Medellín
- Reservation required, no walking in and hoping for a table

3. Palma Pitón (El Poblado)
⭐ Star highlight: The third of my top three picks and the most aesthetic tropical rooftop in Medellín.
I literally extended my 4 day trip in Medellin to add time for brunch at this rooftop after passing by it in person.
Palma Pitón is on the top floor of The Somos Bold Hotel in El Poblado. It has the famous pink spiral stair case with exotic plants hanging down from the railings. And the entire rooftop is filled with the jungle vibe and tropical decor.
You can grab dinner here, but in my opinion the best experience is at brunch. It’s quiet and sunny with birds chirping from the plants nearby. The brunch food is delicious (although portioned a bit small) and the coffee is good too.
The views over the city aren’t really the point at this rooftop, it’s more about the pinks and greens of the decor and plants.

- The most unique, photogenic decor concept in Medellín’s rooftop scene
- Insanely good brunch on Sundays
- Central El Poblado location
Cons:
- On the pricier side for cocktails
- The service is a bit slow, but plan for it and savour the decor

4. Mamba Negra (El Poblado)
⭐ Star highlight: Rated #81 bar in the world (apparently that’s a big deal haha). They are three-quarters of the way up a mountain overlooking the city.
It’s hard to place Mamba Negra in restaurants vs bars, because the dining experience and food are out of this world, but after dark the vibe is incredible.
First, the decor and ambience is an experience. The cocktails are unique. And the staff are super friendly.
It’s giving resto club energy. They often have live salsa music going, occasionally live DJ sets. And the views are insane.
I recommend grabbing a seat at one of the bar-style tables on the glass windows overlooking the city.

5. Cannario (El Poblado)
⭐ Star highlight: Warm lighting, sleek design, and some of the best small plates on any rooftop in El Poblado.
Cannario has a warm, sleek feel that’s a little different from the more open-air rooftops on this list. The tacos, croquettes, and bravas are really delicious, and the views are pretty from the right seat.
That’s the catch. If you’re not sitting by the windows, you don’t really get a view. Book ahead and specifically ask for a table by the glass.

- Great for a low-key date night

- Views are only good if you get a window seat
6. Enso (El Poblado)
⭐ Star highlight: Skyline views with the mountains behind them, and an atmosphere that feels elegant.
Enso is fine dining on a hotel rooftop, with modern design and interesting light fixtures. The views are some of the most dramatic on this list, and sunset here is particularly beautiful.
Reviewers consistently point to the food as excellent and the staff as attentive and welcoming, even for non-Spanish speaking guests. They occasionally bring in a DJ, which adds a little energy without tipping into full party territory. It’s on the more expensive side.

Mal de Ojo isn’t fully open-air, but the tall glass ceilings and windows more than make up for it. You get incredible views of the city framed by greenery lining the booths.
The design is sleek and modern, and the food is on the upscale side.

- Great option if you want rooftop views without full open-air exposure
- Upscale food menu
Cons:
- Not a true open-air rooftop, which matters if that’s what you’re after

8. Náufrago Rooftop, Click Clack Hotel (El Poblado)
⭐ Star highlight: Wooden decor and glass balconies give this one an entirely different texture than the sleeker rooftops nearby.
Náufrago sits on top of the Click Clack Hotel, which is one of the fanciest hotels in Medellin. I also recommend the hotel on my full list of hotels with rooftop pools in Medellin.
The aesthetic is really unique here, with wood decor and tons of greenery. The views are also really great overlooking the city.

La Deriva shares the Click Clack Hotel rooftop with Náufrago, and it’s built around the pool and lounge area. The bar itself is cozy, the service is fast and friendly, and they can accommodate vegetarian options too.
Some people come during the day specifically to hang out by the pool, grab a sunbed, and enjoy the views before it turns into more of an evening lounge scene. It’s one of the better rooftop bars in Medellín for couples looking for something relaxed rather than a full party.

Lotus Rooftop has a truly unique, almost dreamlike vibe. It has a tree centerpiece rising up from the middle of the room with white blossoms hanging from the ceiling.
This is a rooftop built entirely around experience. They’ve had saxophone players, dancers, live singers, DJ sets, and even a magician who comes around to do tricks table to table.
It’s a bit of a hidden gem compared to the bigger names on this list, without the sheer volume of reviews some of the others have, but the reviews it does have are consistently high.

11. Envy Rooftop, Charlee Hotel (El Poblado)
⭐ Star highlight: Super fun bar with a pool, live DJs, and one of the best sunsets in the city.
Envy Rooftop bar in Medellin sits on the 17th and 18th floors of The Charlee Hotel in El Poblado. This is one of the fanciest hotels in Medellin and makes it on my list of my favourite rooftop pool hotels in Medellin.
It’s a genuine panorama rooftop bar in Medellín, with a pool you can access during the day, signature cocktails, sushi, and live music.
Sometimes they bring in a live DJ, and the whole rooftop turns into one of the more electric party scenes in the city. It’s the closest thing to a proper sky bar Medellín has, and the sunset here is awesome.

The music is a mix of live sets and DJs, and it’s consistently ranked as one of the best rooftop bars in Medellín for pure energy.

- Great pre-club stop given its central El Poblado location

Los Patios has two buildings, right around the corner from each other. So they have 2 rooftop bars. I’d seriously recommend staying here (I did twice) for the rooftops alone.
They run salsa classes that turn into full dance parties, and afterward you can buy tickets for party buses to keep the night going. You get a free welcome drink if you stay there and it’s great for meeting people.
This is the most budget-friendly rooftop bar Medellín has on this list, and the overall vibe is about as fun as it gets.
There’s no food served at this rooftop bar.

They also have a sign on the wall that reads “be a badass with a good ass,” which tells you everything about the vibe. The cocktails are good, and the views from the rooftop are fantastic.

The bartenders go out of their way to make a show of creating your drinks and some have fire effects. It’s definitely on the more expensive side, but people consistently say the atmosphere makes it worth it.

If you’re going with a partner, Piso 10, La Deriva, Cannario, and Lotus Rooftop are your best bets.
All of them have that close, window-side seating that makes for an actual conversation instead of shouting over a DJ.
If you’re going with a group and want energy over ambiance, Mosquito Rooftop, Envy Rooftop, and Los Patios are where the night actually turns into a party.
How Many Rooftops to Plan For
You don’t need to hit all fifteen. Two or three over a long weekend is realistic, especially if you’re pairing a rooftop restaurant dinner with a rooftop bar afterward on the same night.
A solid combo is Piso 10 or Simah for dinner, followed by Envy Rooftop or Mosquito Rooftop once the sun goes down.
