If you are trying to decide which of the Greek islands to visit this summer then look no further. Corfu island is perfect for adventure travellers, cheap spenders, and those looking to avoid the chaos of popular Santorini and Mykonos. Travelling to Corfu you are guaranteed stunning rugged beaches, ATV adventures, cliff jumping at seaside bars, and awe-inspiring landscapes. There are an endless number of adventurous things to do in Corfu.

While planning my own trip to Corfu, I had some difficulties finding information to help me put all the amazing activities I wanted to do together into one itinerary. I basically had to show up and wing it. While I do love a spontaneous trip, there were some moments when I had to take time out of my days to figure out the logistics. When you only have a week, it is much better to spend more time adventuring and less time planning.

So, I have good news for you fellow adventurer! I have compiled all the best things to do on the island into the PERFECT 7 day Corfu itinerary just for you. In this itinerary, you’ll find hikes to famous double-sided beaches, boat tours to neighbouring islands, plate smashing at toga parties, snorkeling adventures, and so much more. PLUS all the logistics you need to make it happen.

The Perfect 7 Day Itinerary in Corfu – All the Best Things To Do

This 7 day Corfu itinerary will be based on staying in Agios Gorgios. I highly recommend staying here, due to its sheer beauty and convenient central location on the island. It also happens to have one of the most picturesque beaches in all of Corfu. However, this itinerary can easily be adapted to staying elsewhere in Corfu too. It is a pretty small island after all.

About Agios Gordios

Agios Gordios is located directly across from Corfu town on the West coast of Corfu. The town features quaint beach town vibes filled with shops, tourist agencies, and several beachside restaurants to admire the view. It is also home to some of the most impressive sunsets you’ll ever witness.

There are many different places to stay in Agios Gordios. I personally stayed at the Pink Palace Hostel. You do NOT need to be a hostel person to stay here. In fact, the hostel more resembles a resort hotel, with only a small section consisting of hostel dorms. The majority of guests stay in private hotel-style rooms.

The accommodation itself is adequate, the views from the sea-facing balconies are unreal, and the reception organizes different tours that can be fun to join. It is also super affordable.

Day 1: Quad Safari Tour and Lounging at One of Corfu’s Best Beaches

The Pink Palace with palm trees

Quad Safari Tour with Pink Palace

Kicking off the first day with an adventure for the books, join the Pink Palace quad safari tour. Driving around the island on mini ATVs/quad bikes is the perfect way to get a feel for your surroundings while checking off an epic activity right away.

The tour starts at the Pink Palace reception area at 11 am. You’ll be given a quick demonstration on how to drive the bike and a practice run around the parking lot. From there, you’ll head out to your first of several stopping points along the tour. You’ll visit beautiful lookout points with panoramic views, get some free time at Paramonas beach, and even experience a little off-road driving as well.

You do not need any previous experience with ATVs to participate, as they provide smaller, less powerful bikes. Lunch and water are included as well. You also do not need to be staying at the Pink Palace to book this tour. You can book through Viator here or in person with the reception at 10 am on the day of.

Cost: about 70 euros ($70 USD)

Agios Gordios Beach

Corfu's Agios Gordios beach from above

After returning from your first adventure of the trip, enjoy the rest of your afternoon at Agios Gordios beach. Agios Gordios is known for having one of the best and most picturesque beaches on the entire island. After visiting, you’ll understand why.

The beach has a rocky surface, but once you enter the water you’ll find soft sand beneath your feet. You can easily spend hours enjoying the views in the warm turquoise waters. Make sure to bring some water shoes or flip-flops for getting in and out of the ocean.

BONUS TIP: To find a more private, quiet portion of the beach, walk right (if you are facing the water) down the beach until you pass the Black Rock Seaside bar. Here you will find some small quiet beaches separated by big rocks and boulders. The further you walk, scrambling over rocks as you go, the more private the beaches will get. You can actually escape the majority of the crowds by doing this.

Cost: Free!

Enjoy Your First Night With Sunset Views at an Agios Gordios Beach Bar

Finally, as the sun starts to lower in the sky, take a few short steps from the beach to a seaside bar. Enjoy your favourite cocktail while taking in the golden hour sunset. Stay a little longer and you’ll see proof of Agios Gordios’ impressive sunset reputation.

Day 1 Transportation: Transportation is easy today because there is none needed! You’ll be in Agios Gordios for the day

Day 2: Corfu Town Sightseeing

After an eventful first day on your 7 day Corfu itinerary, it is time to explore some of the island’s culture and history. Head into Corfu town for a day of sightseeing.

Corfu town has a ton of amazing things to see and do. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, Corfu’s old town is the place to be, with adorable narrow streets creating a labyrinth to explore. You’ll find cute souvenir and ice cream shops lining the streets, oceanside views, trendy restaurants, and a couple of fortresses standing tall above it all.

Corfu Old Town Walking Tour

When first arriving in a new city, I always recommend wandering around first to get a good feel for your surroundings. A great option for doing this is to take a walking tour of Corfu old town. The walking tours of Corfu town take between 1.5 – 2 hours. They are a great way to learn about the city in greater depth and catch your bearings before venturing off on your own. You can find some great walking tour options with different themes (such as myths and legends or a foodie tour) on Get Your Guide

Cost: $30 – $100 USD depending on the tour

Explore Corfu Town’s Old Fortress

After exploring Corfu’s old town, head to the old fortress. The old fortress is easy to spot from the old town, as it sits perched on the rocky peninsula along the ocean shore. With Venetian design, the fortress consists of a wonderful complex including an old prison, military chapel, barracks, a church, and nowadays a cafe to enjoy lunch with a view. The best part though? A complete 360-degree panoramic view of Corfu town and the surrounding Adriatic sea from the highest point.

They are open from 8 am to 8 pm. I definitely recommend hiking all the way to the top for the best views over Corfu town. It only takes about 15 minutes to hike to the top.

Cost: Entry into the old fort costs 6 euros, although they do have cheaper rates for students and youth.

Seaside Strolls and the Perfect Photo Opp

Corfu town photo opportunity near the old fortress

Immediately after exiting the old fortress, turn to your right to visit a lovely little park. The park is filled with greek styled white pillars. This spot makes for the perfect photo opportunity with hanging tree vines and the ocean framed within the pillars.

Continue walking further past the park, following roughly along the seaside. You’ll pass through beautiful buildings and eventually come to the old marina. This is a great spot in Corfu town for views of the Ionian sea.

Lunch and an Afternoon Treat

After taking in the views at the old marina, wander back into the city centre for some lunch. Some of the best lunch spots in town include:

  • Avli – Known for its delicious Corfu seafood, Avli is the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with views of the old fortress.
  • Corfu Sailing Restaurant – this restaurant is the perfect spot if you want ocean views while enjoying quality food
  • Sway – An excellent lunch spot, Sway is located right in the main square of Corfu’s old town. It features a trendy bar with tasty food and refreshing cock tails.
  • Nolita – This is an excellent spot to grab some Italian or Mediterranean food. With a large outdoor patio, Nolita provides a great atmosphere to enjoy a meal.

After lunch, grab a gelato and wander any other streets you still have left to see. In the summer heat, Gelato is the perfect dessert to keep you cool.

Cool Off at Faliraki Beach

Corfu town can get HOT in the summer. Therefore, a great afternoon activity to cool down is a visit to one of Corfu town’s beaches. Often known as Aleko’s Beach, Faliraki is one of the best spots in town to go for a swim. It is a short walk from the city centre and has stunning views of the old fortress directly across the shore.

Faliraki is a sandy beach in Corfu town with a large platform for sunbathing and diving into crystal clear waters. Near the sandy beach you’ll find a beach bar with white umbrellas and steps down into the water. It is the perfect spot to cool down and enjoy the city in the deadly afternoon heat.

Bonus Stop: The Gouvia Marina

If you have a rental car, then there is a great bonus stop on your way out of Corfu town. Located about 6 km outside of Corfu old town, the Gouvia Marina is one of the largest and finest marinas in all of Greece. With a docking capacity of over 1200 yachts, the marina is a sight to behold. There are also numerous restaurants, shopping, mini golf, and a swimming pool. It is also a great spot to inquire about any day cruises you might be interested in taking later on.

If you have a car rental, then I highly recommend a bonus stop on your way out of town to the Gouvia Marina. If you do not, then it is time to catch a bus back to your accommodation to find dinner locally in the town you are staying in.

Day 2 Transportation: A short 30-minute drive from Agios Gordios, you can take either a car or a bus to Corfu town. If you are taking the bus, the stop is right at the main intersection of Agios Gordios. You may be able to pay by cash with the driver, but also check the shop beside the stop to see if you need to purchase a ticket first. I took this bus twice and it was different each time.

If you are returning from Corfu town by bus, you will head to the main bus terminal in town. This is a different spot from where you were dropped off, so don’t get confused as we did! You’ll want to go to the green bus station located here. It is about a 20-minute walk from the town’s city centre.

Day 3: Hike to Porto Timoni Beach (Corfu’s Most Famous Attraction)

Corfu's famous Porto Timoni beach from above

Day 3 of your 7 day Corfu itinerary is an exciting one! You will be paying a visit to Corfu island’s top attraction, Porto Timoni beach. This was my absolute favourite spot we visited on the trip and one of the most unique outdoor attractions I have ever visited in the world.

Start the day off bright and early to get a head start on the crowds. The beach is quite popular, so it is best to get there as early as you can. Ideally, no later than 9:30 am. To access Porto Timoni beach, you will first stop in Afionas village. From there, it is a 25 minute hike down from the village with views over Agios Georgios beach down below. You’ll see gigantic yachts anchored nearby, vibrant blue water, and of course a bird’s eye view of Porto Timoni beach itself.

After hiking down to the beach, grab a spot and enjoy! You can swim in the clear waters, sunbathe on the pebble beach, and enjoy the sunshine. The beach will get progressively more crowded the closer it gets to noon, so make sure to get your pictures taken before then. Around mid-day, the beach will get so crowded that people will be waiting around for others to leave just to be able to put their stuff down.

Porto Timoni’s Secret Beach

Once it reaches this busy point, it is a great time to pack up and continue hiking further down the original path. By following the path, it won’t take long until you come across a third and much more private beach. Here you’ll find hardly any others and you’ll even have a view across the bay to the main beach crowded with people. This is the perfect way to extend your visit while avoiding crowds.

Cost: There is no entry fee to access Porto Timoni beach. Your only cost will be your transportation to and from the starting point in Afionas village.

Important Tips for Visiting Porto Timoni:

  • There are no bathrooms or facilities on the beach. Make sure you bring lots of water and snacks.
  • Wear sturdy shoes for the hike to and from the beach. It can get steep and rocky at times.
  • There is no shade on the beach whatsoever, so bring a beach umbrella if you have one.
  • Get there as early as possible (no later than 9:30 am) to enjoy the beach without the crowds.
  • Bring water shoes, there are lots of rocks in the water
  • Leave yourself a lot of time to enjoy!

Cool Off with Ice Cream and a View:

Corfu's Agios Georgios beach from above

The hike back up from Porto Timoni beach can be tiring, especially on a hot summer day. After hiking up to the top, we decided to stop at the restaurant right at the start of the hike which had a patio overlooking the Agios Georgios beach and town below. We grabbed a couple of banana splits, some refreshing drinks, and enjoyed the view!

Day 3 Transportation: Transportation to Porto Timoni beach can be a bit of a challenge if you do not have a rental car. Read here for a full guide on how to get to Porto Timoni beach.

We arranged transportation with a local private driver and met him at 7:30 am near our accommodation in Agios Gordios. It took about an hour and a half to get to the beach from Agios Gordios and the drive offered beautiful views over Corfu’s coast.

Day 4: Marble Statues and Olive Groves

Wander Amongst Gods at the Achilleion Palace

On day 4 of your 7 day Corfu itinerary, start by wandering amongst greek gods at the Achilleion Palace. The Achilleion Palace features a beautiful manor with gorgeous architecture and tons of greek inspired art to admire. The outside grounds and gardens are the best part though, with white marble statues of greek gods and goddesses spread throughout checkered marble patios, perfectly manicured lawns, and floral displays.

The Achilleion Palace was originally built in 1890 as a summer retreat for the Austrian Empress at the time. It is located in the town of Gastouri about 20 minutes out of Corfu town. The palace is situated on a high vantage point, providing mesmerizing views of Corfu town and its coast down below.

Cost: Entrance to the palace costs 8 euros and a good hour is enough to explore.

Afternoon Tour of Governor’s Olive Mill

After a morning filled with Greek mythology, head to the Governor’s Olive Mill to get to know Corfu culture some more. Olive oil plays an important role in Corfu’s economy, history, and culture today. With an impressive 4 million olive trees on the island alone, Corfu’s olive oil production has played an important role in the island’s economy for hundreds of years. The island features some of the world’s oldest olive groves, some of which are over 500 years old! Combined with unique cultivation techniques, Corfu produces some of the world’s top-quality olive oil.

There is no better place to learn more than the Governor’s Olive Mill tour, located just south of Agios Gordios. The Governor’s Olive Mill offers tours of their beautiful olive groves, demonstrations on how the oil is produced, details on the health benefits of their oils, and of course an opportunity to taste test the precious product!

They have afternoon start times at 2:30 and the tours last about 3 – 3.5 hours. They even include some local wines, water, and snacks.

Cost: The tour costs 40 euros per person.

Toga party and Taste Test Some Ouzo

A visit to Corfu isn’t complete without participating in one of the Greek’s famous toga parties. Get creative wrapping yourself in a sheet and enjoy the crazy antics that occur at a toga party in Greece. We’re talking plates being smashed over your head, shots of Ouzo (a strong alcoholic drink popular throughout Greece), and dancing to some greek music.

You can find Toga parties at different bars and clubs throughout Corfu. However, the best and most popular of them all takes place right in Agios Gordios! The Pink Palace is known for its famous toga parties with people decked out in pink togas. The parties run every Saturday night, so you may have to adjust some things around in this itinerary to make it happen.

Cost: There is a 15 Euro deposit to rent a toga and have access to the party. This includes a free drink and you get 10 Euros back when you return the toga!

Day 4 Transportation: A rental car makes transportation for day 4 a lot more simple. Otherwise, you can take the local bus to the Achilleion Palace from Corfu town, and a taxi from Agios Gordios to the Governor’s Olive Mill.

Day 5: Paleokastritsa Exploring and Snorkeling Trip

Corfu's rocky coast with bright blue water

Located on the Northwestern portion of the island, Paleokastritsa is one of the best places to visit on Corfu. The town is known for its 6 amazing beaches, world-class snorkeling and diving, dramatic coastal scenery, and trendy beach-side bars.

Visit the Paleokastritsa Monastery

Start by visiting the Paleokastritsa Monastery. Set high atop a cliff overlooking jagged coastal rock formations, this Byzantine monastery provides the perfect views of the surrounding area. Originally built in 1228, the monastery complex now features a museum where you can witness ancient holy relics. The monastery of Paleokastritsa is the perfect spot to get a little history from the area and catch some amazing views in the process.

The monastery closes every day for lunchtime, so make sure you head there first thing in the morning.

Explore Paleokastritsa’s Agios Spyridon Beach

After visiting the monastery, explore the town and enjoy the lovely beach vibes. Paleokastritsa is made up of 5 different scenic bays. Agios Spyridon is the biggest and most popular of the bays and consists of 2 different beaches to enjoy. It is also conveniently located right below the Paleokastritsa Monastery.

Agios Spyridon’s sandy beaches stretch out into long crescent shapes surrounded by sea cliffs. The water is crystal clear and there is very little wind or waves due to the curvature of the beaches. There are also a ton of different restaurants, bars, and shops nearby where you can peruse and grab a bite to eat.

Take a Snorkelling Trip in Paleokastritsa’s Bays

Corfu beach

After a lovely morning spent exploring one of Corfu’s best places to visit, it is time for a little adventure. Paleokastritsa also happens to be the best snorkeling destination in Corfu. Spend your afternoon embarking on a snorkeling trip to see the best of what this area has to offer.

You can book a snorkeling trip with the Achellion Diving Centre Corfu. The tour will take you out and about exploring the most scenic spots in Paleokastritsa’s bays. You’ll be able to see far and wide with the clear water’s excellent visibility, viewing colourful fish, interesting underwater rock formations, and other sea life. Their tours depart at 3 pm.

If you prefer to do the snorkeling without a tour then you can definitely DIY this experience. You can rent, purchase, or bring along your own snorkeling gear and explore Paleokastritsa’s bays on your own! Agios Spyridon is a great place to start but then head to Platakia beach for some amazing rock pools.

Cost: The snorkeling tour with Achilleion diving centre costs 35 euros per person and can be booked here. Otherwise, if you are snorkeling on your own you can purchase cheap snorkeling gear for about 20 euros!

Day 5 Transportation: If you do not have a rental car, then you will need to arrange transportation to and from Paleokastritsa. The town is located only 30 minutes drive from Agios Gordios. You can either take a taxi there and back, rent an ATV for the day, or take public transportation that connects through Corfu town.

Day 6: Explore Corfu’s Nearby Islands and Blue Caves on a Boat Trip

Day 6 of your 7 day Corfu itinerary is going to be filled with sunshine and time out on the water! Spending the day on a boat trip is one of the most popular experiences to have in Corfu. There are numerous tour companies that run boat trip tours to the islands off the coast of Corfu. I personally went with Ionian cruises and had an amazing experience.

Meet with Ionian Cruises

Small town on Paxos island

The Ionian cruise company picked us up from our accommodation bright and early at around 7:30 am. We were picked up in a shuttle that stopped at a few other hotels and resorts along the way. After about an hour, we arrived at the Corfu cruise port and boarded the ship.

The boat tours host a capacity of 240 people, which sounds like a lot but surprisingly didn’t feel overcrowded. There is a lower and an upper deck, as well as an indoor section on the lower floor. There is a bar present onboard selling snacks and drinks. You’ll also have a dedicated tour guide who explains trip details and fun facts about the places we pass by.

The initial leg of the journey takes about 2 hours to reach the first stop. At this point, it is great to enjoy the ocean views and grab some snacks. I even took a nap!

Cost: A day trip with Ionaian cruises costs 80 Euros per person.

First Stop: The Beautiful Paxos Island

After reaching Paxos island, you will be given a small map that shows key points on the island to explore. You’ll have about 2 hours on the island. There are amazing beaches to choose from and an adorable town filled with cute shops and lunch spots. We chose to hike for 15 minutes to a “hidden beach” where we snorkeled and enjoyed the unique rock formations.

Second and Third Stop: The Blue Cave & Antipaxos Island

Emerging from Corfu's blue cave

After departing from Paxos island, the boat will drive you along beautiful coastlines with dramatic sea cliffs to inspire awe. At this point in the journey, a DJ joined us on board, adding music to the experience. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the first scenic cave from Paxos. The boat actually drives itself into the caves, where the water is illuminated into a bright glowing blue.

After stopping in a second cave, you will drive along the coast for another 30 minutes towards Antipaxos. Upon arrival, the boat doesn’t actually dock but instead drops anchor close to shore. From here, you can jump directly into the clear ocean water. You can choose to swim to shore or simply enjoy a swim. To add a little thrill, jump from the boat’s top deck while other travellers cheer you on!

On the drive back, the DJ ups his game blasting fun music to dance to. Our group created a makeshift dance floor on the upper deck and got a little party going. If partying is not your thing, you can hang out on the lower deck indoors to grab some rest after a busy day out in the sun.

Day 6 Transportation: Today’s transportation is completely covered by the Ionian cruise company! They’ll pick you up and drop you back off.

Day 7: ATV Adventures to La Grotta Bar and Canal D’Amour

Pick Up Your ATV

On the final day of your 7 day Corfu itinerary, you’ll be riding in style! After realizing the public transportation on the island makes it a bit tricky to get around without a car, we decided to rent an ATV to check off the last couple of stops we wanted to see. ATVs are street-legal in Corfu and a super fun way to get around! There are tons of benefits to renting them and you can find more information on this and all the other logistics here!

Start the day early by picking up your ATV rental from the shop. You will likely need your passport, as many of the shops require you to leave it with them as insurance for getting their bikes back. The shops typically open at 9 am, so I do recommend getting there as early as you can.

They will go over a quick but very informative demonstration, on exactly how to drive an ATV and how to be safe on the roads there.

Enjoy the Vibes at La Grotta Bar

La Grotta Bar on Corfu

After leaving the ATV rental shop in Agios Goridos, we drove straight to La Grotta Bar in Paleokastritsa. The drive was super fun getting used to the roads.

La Grotta bar is a fun swimming spot and bar located in La Grotto bay of Paleokastritsa. It features tiered balconies overlooking the water, with a diving board, dock, rocky shores you can lay out on, and even cliff jumping! There is music playing, lots of people around enjoying the vibes, and stunningly clear water to dive into. This place is just plain fun.

Not surprisingly, La Grotta bar can get pretty busy. It is recommended to go as early in the morning as you can. Hence why we drove there straight from picking up our ATV rental. There is no entrance fee or anything to enjoy the place, you don’t even have to purchase anything from their bar.

Scenic ATV Ride Through Corfu’s Mountainous Countryside

After enjoying La Grotta bar for a couple of hours, make your way further North to another of the island’s popular spots. The drive will take you through olive groves and charming villages, with dramatic coastal scenery as a backdrop. The ride is an experience in itself! You’ll be driving up and down mountain roads, so make sure to take it slow and enjoy the ride.

Marvel at Canal D’Amour’s Unique Rock Formations

Canal D'Amour on Corfu, Greece

After about an hour’s ATV drive, you’ll arrive in the town of Sidari. Here you’ll find signs everywhere advertising parking for the Canal D’amour. We ended up choosing to pay 5 euros to park, to save the time and effort of finding street parking somewhere. It was only a short walk down to the beach.

The Canal D’Amour is a beautiful beach set into a canal with interesting smoothed-out rock formations. You’ll find people swimming out in the waves, covering themselves in the thick gray mud that comes from the beach, and jumping off the smoothed-out cliffs. It feels very much like a beach resort-type town, with tons of restaurants overlooking the beach and the rest of the bay from above.

We spent a short time enjoying the water and then hung out eating banana splits and enjoying the view! Make sure you leave lots of time to make your way back to Agios Gordios. It took us about 2 – 2.5 hours to return at a pace we felt safe driving at, including a stop for gas.

Day 7 Transportation: Ride in style with today’s ATV transportation!
