This is where I stayed for my 4 epic days in Medellin, and I absolutely loved it.
Los Patios has two buildings on the same corner in El Poblado, and the sheer amount of amenities and activities is insane.
They have a gym, a rooftop pool, tours and activities, a ton of different common spaces, two rooftops, two bars, and a cafe on the ground floor of one of the buildings.
💡 Tip: When planning your trip to Medellin, try to pair rooftop pool with available activities right from your accommodation. That’s why I loved Los Patios so much, I didn’t have to leave my hostel to pack my Medellin itinerary full.
I stayed in a dorm and it was really comfortable, with lockers, curtains, and a personal shower in each dorm.
The rooftop pool itself was stunning. The pool is a good size, the view from up there is incredible, and they have a bunch of beautiful plants around the pool.
I ended up extending an extra day in Medellin just so I could spend more time at that pool.
I’m also a digital nomad, so working from the hostel was really convenient too. And for anyone who isn’t usually a hostel person, they also have private rooms. I met plenty of people staying in those who felt completely comfortable.

This is probably one of the most uniquely luxurious hotels in Medellin. It has a very earthy modern design with wood and industrial decor and a jungle’s amount of plants and greenery.
Every common space and courtyard has vines hanging from the ceiling or palm leaves in the backdrop. You’re in a bit of an oasis in the middle of the city.
The rooftop pool has sunbathing sections, plants all around the base of the pool, and great views overlooking the city. There are two restaurant/bars on the roof that I highly recommend in this guide to the best rooftop bars in Medellin.
Staff are incredibly accommodating, they have an airport shuttle, a fitness center, and SIX restaurants on-site with food that guests consistently rave about.
This is one of the pricier picks on this list, so it’s not the budget option. But for a jungle-vibe luxury stay, it’s worth it.

For a proper mid-range hotel with a rooftop pool, Haven Hotel is my pick.
This is also the hotel with the 360 rooftop bar, which is one of the best-known rooftop bars in the city.
The pool has glass railings overlooking the city, sunbed loungers, and a shaded area to sit under. You can order drinks and snacks right at the pool or have a full sit-down dinner up there.
They also have a really good free hotel breakfast with a full buffet served right on the rooftop.
It’s an adults-only hotel with a 24-hour front desk and airport shuttles. The pool is open from 8 am – 7 pm.
Pros:
- Home to the 360 rooftop bar, one of the best-known rooftop spots in the city
- Bar and full dinner service available right at the pool
- Free hotel breakfast buffet served on the rooftop

Cons:
- The pool isn’t the largest but when I visited during the day it wasn’t crowded

4. Cool Living by Los Patios – Hostel Amenities but Hotel Privacy

Location: Laureles
This one is owned by Los Patios but it’s a proper hotel, not a hostel. It’s located in Laureles, which is a much quieter part of the city but still really central and lovely.
The vibe of this hotel is like if you took the social common spaces and activities of a hostel but kept only private hotel rooms, not dorms. It runs regular activities like ping pong and salsa classes, plus they have a tour desk where you can book tours around the city.
The hotel pool has full 360 degree views and there’s also a small gym and steam room on the roof.
Many of the rooms have lovely balconies overlooking the city and some have mini kitchenettes. And there’s a restaurant on-site too.
Pros:
- Super amenity and hospitality focused
- Sauna!
- Tour desk and similar amenities on-site
- Quiet, residential neighborhood feel in Laureles
Cons:
- You trade El Poblado’s walkability to restaurants, bars, and nightlife for a quieter setting
- Some say the common spaces can get loud
5. Masaya Medellin – Second Hostel Option

Masaya probably has the biggest rooftop pool out of all the hotel options on this list. They also have a lovely jacuzzi and multiple tiers to their massive rooftop where you can enjoy the views.
Masaya is a hostel so has affordable dorms, but there are also beautiful private rooms with their own balconies.
There are a ton of Medellin’s top activities and tours offered here like cooking classes, exotic fruit tastings, and walking tours of Comuna 13 and downtown.
They also have a coworking place on-site (which means good wifi throughout the hostel in general) but they charge for it.
Pros:
- Massive rooftop with a huge pool and multiple tiers
- Sun lounge beds and a rooftop bar
- Spacious private rooms with their own balconies
- On-site restaurant
- 24-hour reception and adults-only
Cons:
- Coworking space is available but costs extra
- No breakfast included

This is one of the pricier options in Medellin, but is absolutely stunning. The curb appeal is unreal.
The rooms are lux, with massive floor to ceiling windows in most of them and private balconies and/or jacuzzis in some.
And the rooftop pool is a beauty. The rooftop has glass walls, sun bathers, and a bar lounge area too. They have string lights twinkling over everything and the views of the city are some of the best you can find.
Some weird caveats to keep in mind: the pool is only open 9 am – 5 pm (they close it for dinner service) and there is a public gym on the roof too. The hotel still gets amazing reviews for the luxurious feel and how friendly the staff are.

The Landmark hotel is new, modern and minimalistic in a nice way.
The pool here is bigger than most with glass railing views of the city that look truly beautiful. They also have a fitness centre and 2 tasty restaurants on-site serving a mix of local, Asian, and American food.
They have sunbathers but there’s not that many of them. There is also a hot tub on the roof.
Landmark is also located on a quieter street of El Poblado. So you still get the perks of being close to the action in this busy part of town, but don’t have to deal with the noise.
Pros:
- Bigger outdoor pool than most hotels on this list and a hot tub
- Fitness center and restaurant on-site
- Breakfast included
- Metro station only a 10 minute walk away
- Located in a safe, quiet pocket of El Poblado while still being centrally located

Heiss Hotel is another with insane curb appeal. It has these unique circular wooden balconies that bulge out from the building and are covered in plants.
The pool itself is narrow, but it’s set up in such an aesthetic way that the whole rooftop feels beautiful anyway. Plus it’s heated which is nice if you’re not in Medellin during a warm period.
The sunbathing loungers are really pretty and comfy. The staff are also really accommodating and there is often complimentary drinks when you arrive.

This is the most luxurious and aesthetically designed hotels on this list, right in the heart of El Poblado’s nightlife scene.
The rooftop has a pool, a jacuzzi, sun beds, a restaurant, and a bar, and the views from up there are supposed to be some of the best in Medellin.
The pool itself is small, more the kind of pool you sit in on a floaty and cool off in than one you swim around in.
The hotel also offers a curated coffee tasting experience and the rooms have free mini-bars.

Some rooms have massive floor to ceiling windows, and the common spaces throughout the hotel are stunning.
Pros:

Which Neighborhood Should You Actually Pick
You’ve probably noticed that almost every hotel I listed is in El Poblado.
That’s because it’s the neighborhood with the best concentration of restaurants, bars, and walkability in the city.
If you want something quieter and more residential, Laureles is the move, and Cool Living by Los Patios is the best rooftop pool option there.
